Gordy's Hill

Sun Dec 14, 2014 9:30AM     RIDE COMPLETED

A Day ride at Gordy's Hill, near Socorro, NM. Meet at Truck Stop Gas Station, west side of interstate, off of I-25, north of Socorro. EXIT 156 at Lemitar, NM , at 9:30am. A good place to leave trailers and tow rigs. BUT, you candrive to Gordy's Hill and leave your trailer/ rig there also. Your Choice...... Will leave shortly there after, with a full tank of Gas  and aired down tires. Please bring your own equipment to air up your tires at the end of the day. Arrive early and eat at the truck stop, good food!!! Allow 1 1/2 hours drive time from Albuquerque area to get there.

Plan to drive to Gordy's Hill from there and explore some moderate trails , hard trails with bypasses and rough roads in that area. This will require a lifted 4x4 with low range, aired down, good off road tires, good mechanical condition, recovery straps front and back. A CB radio is very important. Channel 4...... There is always the possibility of vehicle damage on about any trail down there, use your own judgement.

With short days, we will do what we can and try to be back at the Gas Station by 4:00 PM. This ride can be cancelled if area highways are icy, so keep an eye on the club website as this date approaches.
