This trip will be an easy ride for stock 4x4 vehicles. We will meet at the Box Recreation Area off of US Highway 60 southwest of Socorro at 9:30 am. The last gas stations are in Socorro. Please plan to air-down when you arrive and depart at 10:00 am. There is a pit toilet at the parking area. The trip will traverse graded gravel roads and a sandy canyon with a couple of side roads that might require 4x4 mostly on BLM managed lands but crossing a private ranch or two. We will visit a couple of old manganese mines and drive through Bianca Canyon, a spectacular box canyon. Our route will take us close to the I-25 San Antonio exit before we turn and head toward Highway 60. This point could be a departure if anyone needs to leave early. We will primarily use FRS/GMRS radio communication, but have CB and HAM radios along. Trip leader call signs are WRUM512 (GMRS) and N5CNV (HAM).
