We haven't been here in 3 years. This will be an Easy/Moderate ride. I'd like to be done with check-in and leave the meet point at 9AM, so try to get there 15-20 minutes before 9.
From the start point we have a 13 mile pavement ride (mostly I-40) to get to the dirt, where we will air down. The first half of the day is the toughest funnest part, takes a couple hours, all uphill with nice views. The rest of the day is easier terrain taking us to more nice views, one at 11,000' viewing Sandia Mtns from 65 miles away. The day is 54.3 miles from air-down to air-up. It's 90% loops, just a 6 mile access road done twice. After air-up, it's 15 miles of pavement back to the meet point. I expect to be back to the the meet point by 4:30pm.
Bring food and drink for lunch under the trees. We will use GMRS/FRS radio for communication.
The video below is the tougher morning part of the ride, shown at 8-times the speed. If you would like to spend a day off-road with me, please sign up. Oh, and bring your camera. I don't mind stopping for photo-ops.
