Monday, May 26 Update:
The Cibola Nationa Forest Sandia Ranger District is now at Stage 2 fire restrictions. The City of Albuquerque Open Space (Carolino Canyon) follows the same fire restrictions. This means that we cannot use charcoal to grill hamburgers and hot dogs for the picnic. But, propane BBQ grills are still allowed. To be able to have grilled hamburgers and hot dogs, we will need a couple of propane BBQ grills.
Please let Jack Dickey know (email, text, or phone) by Friday, June 6 if anyone would be willing to haul their grill and propane bottle to the picnic. Otherwise we will have sub sandwiches.
New Picnic Site!
This year the picnic will be at the City of Albuquerque Open Space Carolino Canyon upper picnic area.
Plan to arrive anytime after 3:00; the potluck dinner will start around 4:00 with a business meeting following at about 5:00. If there are no fire restrictions, we will grill up hamburgers and hot dogs. Otherwise, it will be something that does not require grilling (BBQ or sandwiches). Water, sodas, tea, paper plates, plastic ware, and napkins will also be provided.
Please bring a potluck dish and indicate in the comments what you plan to bring. If your dish needs to be kept on ice, please bring your own container and ice.
A few folks will be needed to help with set up, grilling - bring your BBQ tools, and clean up.
There are picnic tables, but bring chairs for you and your family so that you can follow the shade.
Attending a meeting is the best first step in getting to know the New Mexico 4 Wheelers.
