Here are the tentative plans for 2026 Green River trip. I've reached out to Cliff about this year's ride and he was fine with me coordinating this years ride.
I will settle on which trails we will run as the next week progresses and even investigate a day trip to Moab for a run.
We will leave for Green River on Sun Apr 26, go on rides April 27th through May 1st and leave on May 2 for home.
There are several motels in Green River.
Green River KOA, 235 South 1780 East, 800-562-5734.
Shady Acres RV Park 690 E Main St, Green River, UT 84525 : (435) 564-8290
Green River State Park 550 Green River Blvd, Green River, UT 84525: (435) 564-3633
We will met each morning in the Green River Museum at 8:30am.
The runs will be mainly scenery with a medium to low degree of difficulty. Be prepared for long days leaving the meet point at 9:00 am. Many of the trail heads are 50-60 miles from Green River. We normally arrive back at the RV park about 6:00pm or later. Plans are explore south of the Interstate 70 in the Hanksville area and southeast of Green River (This a new area we haven't explored before.). We may do a run the the Cathedral Valley which would be a long day. We could be traveling up 200 miles daily so bring extra fuel if you need ibecause there may not be any convienant fuel stations where we might be going. We also will stopping each day ~12 -1:00 pm for lunch. Bring snacks, water, gas and anything else you think you may need.
Rig recommendations:
- <= 2" lift if you are longer wheelbase or non-Rubicon-like Jeep or equivalent
- minimum 33" tires [YOU MUST BE THIS TALL TO RIDE THIS RIDE! ;) ]
- rear locker; front locker helpful if you want to tackle more challenging obstacles
- Rubicon-like stock vehicles able, but they should have skid plates & articulation (take the Toyota Trailhunter vehicles as an equivalent example)
- sliders
- winch
- recovery gear (soft shackle, recovery strap, tree saver, shovel, lifting device, etc.)
- spare tire or ability & supplies for flat repair
- pinstripping -> not sure since I haven't run these
- body damage possible
