Christmas Tree Run
By Jennifer Chapin (Trail Tales January 2013)
After figuring out how to load routes in my GPS and having a plan of where our trail ride would take us I thought I was prepared to lead the trail ride. Everyone wanted to go a different route than I had planned on. That is all fine and I was told by many of the people to just take any of the roads they all connect back so it should not be a problem. It was a very nice day with lots of children and dogs all excited to be out on the trail looking for Christmas Trees. We had a few very long stops before lunch while everyone explored and looked for trees. I brought my friends Aussy and Jessica who have never been on a 4x4 trail ride before. They both were enjoying the scenery and seeing the very little patches of snow that we would happen upon. We were all enjoying getting pictures and looking for a tree. Jessica wanted me to drive in every ditch in the road to see what the Hummer could do. I think she will enjoy going on a more challenging trail ride in the future. After taking us on a few dead end roads it was lunch time. Our chicken salad was still somewhat frozen so I had my hood open to try to thaw out our lunch. We then continued on down the trail and stopped again for another tree search. With everyone getting trees that wanted them, it was time to call it a day and head back home. Thanks to everyone that helped me find the way.
