This ride started by going up to Mt Taylor and the forest the back way, via an access road near I-40 Exit 96. It was more rocky and vertical than other 'Easy' rides, so was called 'Moderate', though stock Jeeps made the trip fine.
After that couple hours travel, the next stop was to be the very top of Mt Taylor, where I've never been. A needed lunch break first, then on and up. We did get to the top, but it wasn't much fun. The expected grand views were blocked by trees. The next stop, to get those views, was to the normal scenic overlook in the northeast of the Mt Taylor trail system. That was nice and we hung out there as long as the wind permitted.
Then it was basically a ride back to Grants. First on bumpy forest road, then bumpy gravel, then smooth gravel, then an air-up spot and pavement. I'll save any other stories and fine reporting for the meeting!
FINES:
- Bob Wilber: T-case shifter broke, stuck in neutral, The rest of the day Cody had to crawl under to shift it when needed. (Cody, you can probably seek legal council for burned fingers compensation.)
- Bob Meyers: Locked his keys in his Jeep (would have been no problem if the doors were off, just sayin').
- Chris Sears: Vapor Lock (Chris gets off with a warning, since it didn't really hold up the group).
- Don Roy: Since I'm acting VP/Sheriff, I did everything exactly right! Those two things never happened.
