This was another easy ride after a meeting, scheduled so new NM4W meeting attendees could do something off-road right away. The last one of these for me was a simple Cedro ride in Sept, this time we went further to Gordy’s Hill east of Socorro, NM. We had about 13 vehicles and 18 people for the day, which included a (directionally helpful) local guy from Socorro who knew our club. It was sunny, but a bit cold and windy (my last day of the year for no top or doors).
[You can refer to the Trails map for Gordy's to see these locations.] After airing down at the north 'Trailer Parking #2' area (the one with the NM4W sign), we headed east on my favorite Gordy’s easy trail, the 5 miles of sand and whoop-de-dos know as Washboard Ridge. After that we headed west into Arroyo #2, then east again on the main Quebradas Road over to Full View Peak. Full View Peak was very windy, and it was November, so minutes later we headed to the lower less windy Play Area for lunch. We kept low in arroyos after that, winding our way back via Flagstone Road and Arroyo #1 and back to the start point by 3:30pm or so. The only real issue for the ride was me missing a turn once or twice (or more, I wasn’t really counting). I’d like to thank Jeff Boggs for tail gunning for me all day!
