Club President, Frank Whiston, received a message on Friday night from parents of a 22 year old who had gotten his 2016 Jeep Willy stuck past the end of Northern Blvd, about 10 miles west of Unser. Here is the message that was received:
“So my son, 22 yrs old, joined the national guard within the last year and just bought a 2016 jeep Willie. Long story short, he been exploring and now got stuck, in a roll over position. we have it strapped down, and will be going back in morning to see what to do. Trust me if we get this out, he WILL be contacting this group about joining..lol.. so if anyone is bored in the area, we wouldn't mind the help/expertise. He will be at the western end of Northern in Rio Rancho.”
Frank put the word out via email to club members on Saturday morning and Tom Coston, his daughter Rebecca, and Deb Austin responded. It took a couple of hours, two winches, and a lot of teamwork to extract this vehicle.
You can see from the final photo and videos that after getting the vehicle back on top of the ridge, it was still crosswise. After trying a “100 point” turn, getting less than an inch each time and the edges getting progressively softer, we attached a winch from top of the hill to pull the front end around enough for him to drive out and get the bottom winch vehicle out behind him.
