We had a great turnout for the ride. Even mother nature showed up with some great weather. La Ventana is a very short loop trail. The club has been running this trail for over 24 years. I fell in love with this trail in 2002, and the leader ran it counter clockwise. I ran it in 2023, but went clockwise and the views were breathtaking.
I wanted to run it clockwise again, but struggled with finding the right trail. So a lot of exploring was done, but it was in a very interesting landscape. So it was not all for naught. We finally did find the place where I made a wrong turn and got on the trail. But alas we could not find the waterfall. But, I think we were close.
We continued on the trail, even though dark clouds were gathering overhead. With the clouds and the sun peaking through at times, the views from on top of the mesa were breathtaking. We even got a light rain for a few minutes. We completed the trail with looking for the overlook.
So technically the ride was a fail. But basically it was a great day that we all enjoyed!
